Minimalist Music and Photos

Sound | Vision is the online journal of improvising musician Jimmy Peggie outlining weekly scenes from his life via recordings, as well as photos and video.  The soundscapes are designed using bowed fretted string instruments, looping devices, electronics, chance and experimentation.  Once recorded all files are then deleted so that the remaining music truly is a document of a specific time and place.

Most of the music reflects urban life and the sounds, visuals, ideas and experiences that occur when a melting pot of people get together in a particular time and place.  Creativity abounds in urban life and this rebounds from person to person and complex relationships develop between people and the environment in which they exist.  Understanding this can help give us greater knowledge of who we are and what we can be…..or something like that….

This weekly project has been ongoing since December 2006.

Here is is list of some of the equipment used.  7 string Ergo Viola Da Gamba (a-d), Fretted NS Bass Cello (e-c), Acoustic Viola Da Gamba, loop pedal, various electronics and processors, laptop/Abelton Live.  Recorded and mixed using Adobe Audition software.
